Bay Area Arborist Cooperative was founded in 1995 with the belief that cooperation, rather than competition, would enable us to provide the best tree care service in the Bay Area. Our members, most of whom have been caring for trees for over 20 years, are highly skilled and have a broad knowledge of proper species selection and tree care and maintenance methods. All members are California Licensed Contractors (#707545), and 8 are designated as Certified Arborists by the International Society of Aboriculture (ISA). Our cooperative is proudly a Tree Care Industry Association Member and a TCIA Accredited Company.

MISSION STATEMENT

Bay Area Arborist Cooperative was one of the first such cooperatives in the country. The coop is collectively owned by the cooperators.

The goals of the coop include:

  • Promoting proper tree trimming practices with an emphasis on tree health, beauty and safety; providing educational materials and training as needed.

  • Providing a safe and healthy work environment for workers; minimizing and preventing on the job accidents.

  • Promoting ecologically sound method, integrated pest management, and constructive utilization of the wood and brush by-products.

  • Ensuring all members are in compliance with state and local business regulations and ordinances.

  • Working in the spirit of cooperation rather than competition.

It is the hope that the coop can help to raise the standards and awareness of tree care in the bay area for many years to come.

Ted Kipping

In Memory of Ted Kipping - 1945 - 2019

Ted Kipping was the founder and President of BAAC since its inception.

He was a renowned horticulturalist. His vast knowledge of natural history made his monthly slide shows popular for 38 years. He was active in several local horticultural clubs, a lifetime member of a dozen horticultural organizations and a longstanding member of the International Society of Arboriculture and the American Society of Consulting Arborists. We will remember Ted for his leadership, knowledge and skill in the Arboriculture industry.

  • We provide tree services across much of the San Francisco Bay Area, but not all of it. As we are located in San Francisco, we primarily serve southern Marin County, western portions of Contra Costa & Alameda counties, San Francisco, and most of San Mateo County.

    In you are unsure if we serve your area, feel free to ask.

  • Unfortunately, no. We aren’t currently able to take requests to retrieve cats from trees.

  • Yes! If you’ve worked with one of our arborists before and you call us again, we will make sure to put you in touch with the same person.
